Edmond Israel Foundation Publishes Study on the Harmonisation of Taxation in Europe

The Edmond Israel Foundation today published its study 'the proposed directive on the harmonisation of taxation of interest: the intra-European and global financial challenges.' The study, undertaken by Promethée, an independent non-profit thinktank based in Paris, examines the key issues and challenges and puts forward outline proposals for action. These include the need to establish a high level group to reflect upon and make proposals on tax harmonisation and the urgent need to engage key market participants in examining the future shape of the 'eurosecurities' markets.

André Lussi, Chairman of the Edmond Israel Foundation, commented: 'The discussion on the harmonisation of taxation in Europe is lively and often controversial. The Edmond Israel Foundation commissioned this study earlier this year to contribute to the debate and to put forward tangible steps that would help to remove some of the mystique surrounding the history and the politics of taxation. I believe that this study is timely and provides an objective assessment of this challenging issue.'
