Second Annual Survey of Market Practitioners
Proposed Directive on Harmonisation of Taxation of Interest Payments

The Edmond Israel Foundation has sponsored two research projects.

Second Annual Survey of Market Practitioners

The Second Annual Survey of Market Practitioners focuses on the risks for capital markets and their link to the barriers to free flows of capital across borders. The survey was done in the context of the Edmond Israel Foundation's Conference: Second Annual Capital Markets without Borders 2001.

A summary of the survey is available on this website.

The Proposed Directive on Harmonisation of Taxation of Interest Payments

In May 1998, the European Commission submitted a proposal for a Directive to 'ensure a minimum of effective taxation of savings income in the form of interest payments within the Community'. In response, The Edmond Israel Foundation decided to launch an independent report, based on interviews with market participants and regulators, that puts the proposed Directive in a more general framework of the changing and globalizing markets and the competitiveness of the EU financial centres.

A report summary and the report in html and .pdf versions is available on this site.
