Second Annual Survey of Market Practitioners
|
| Capital markets today play a greater role than ever in driving economies globally. Yet paradoxically, in 2001 they have been exposed to an unprecedented series of crises and shocks: first and foremost the September 11 attacks, with massive physical and human destruction for the financial community. Then come chaos in Argentina, Enron, the largest bankruptcy of all times, the full burst of the "e-bubble", all this with the mountains of Asian banks‘ bad loans in the background. |
This Second Annual Survey of Market Practitioners thus focuses on the risks for capital markets and their link to the barriers to free flows of capital across borders explored in last year’s survey.
The Edmond Israel Foundation, chaired by André Roelants, is a centre dedicated to the research and promotion of ideas of cultural, scientific, political and economic importance in the context of Europe. Its aim is to work both within the framework of a changing Europe and to advance European thinking elsewhere in the world, thereby making a high-quality contribution to the ongoing debates of our times and exploring themes of freedom, social responsibility and cultural identity.
PROMETHEE is an independent, non-profit think-tank working on the global networked economy and its implications for policy makers and corporate strategies. Long term trends and their implications are identified through a three-tier process of conceptual developments, of strategic conversations and of shared visions, in close cooperation with PROMETHEE corporate members, a number of leading-edge, global-minded corporations.
